Presentation / pitch of final package with evaluation and feedback

My textual analysis was on a TV show that goes by the name “Power”. Overall, it did not really help me with my chosen theme as the theme of the TV show is drama and the theme of my short film was thriller. However, the textual analysis did help me with my camera angles as the episode that I was watching was filled with emotions which equals to a lot of camera shots and angles for example an establishing shot or a shot reverse shot.

From writing the analysis it made me realise what camera angles are and it helped me work out which ones I am going to use. For example, I can use an establishing shot to set the theme or an over shoulder to show someone doing their work.

The pre-production was helpful as it made the process of filming the short movie more planned out and organised. It was successful as we took pictures in the rooms that we are going to film so we wouldn’t be confused about the setting. Also from the start we wrote out a story line and gave rolls to all of the people and what they’re parts in the filming process.

The filming was very successful as the camera angles and shots were also discussed thoroughly before filming. I used a tripod so the camera footage would not be shaky. We also had an idea of turning off the lights and using a flashlight so it won’t be so dark.

One of the struggles we had whilst filming was lack of space. One of our scenes was set in a classroom and it was really hard to find a class that was empty so it would look more believable in the film’s establishing shot.  One of our strengths was planning as a group. We were never confused about filming and we were always on task and on track.

The audience feedback on our short film was that it had a good range of camera angles like the over shoulder shot, establishing shot, mid shot. One thing we could have improved on was the editing of the film. There was a lack of sound in our piece as we ran out of editing time which is another aspect we could have improved on.

One of the things we could’ve improved on is planning out our timings as editing and filming lasted over the due date. Another thing we could’ve improved on would be punctuality as sometimes people from our group would be late so we could not continue or work.
