Exploring how media organisations create different types of media products with distinctive characteristics, looking at specific examples of these products in order to understand the advantages and disadvantages of these products and the implications for the organisation.

Characteristics of mainstream products:
Production: high production value and is usually backed by a big conglomerate like Warner Brothers with a big budget
Distribution: they are distributed in cinemas and theatres like Vue cinemas.
Audience: youth audience
Exhibition: the showing of a product that has been created in a public outing like a movie premiere.
Marketing: posters, billboards, sponsors.

Characteristics of independent products: 
Production: a low budget film (compared to mainstream) with an indented crew and cast.
Distribution: limited distribution
Audience: stereotypical older audience
Exhibition: averaged sized cinemas
Marketing: tends to have star limited marketing

Characteristics of niche products:
Production: low budget with a lower value
Distribution: film festival showings and an online release
Audience: an older and more mature audience
Exhibition: small cinemas
Marketing: newspapers
